The world’s fattest woman has shown just how much weight she has already lost at a press conference to discuss her health.

Eman Ahmed Abdulati was a massive 79 stone at her heaviest – but her weight loss is already clear to see.

The 36-year-old has also revealed she has a target weight of just 15 stone as she vows to “work hard” to shed 64 stone.

Eman appeared at a press conference this week at the Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi where she has been a patient since May, mirror UK reports.

She says she is “grateful” for all the help she has already received from medics but that her weight loss journey has only just started.

Eman says she just wants to live a normal life

Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, the VPS Healthcare managing director who is overseeing the Egyptian woman’s progress, said: “There are two things we want to keep aside – one is the cost as this is a humanitarian approach and the other is weight .

“We are taking utmost care like a familymember. There has been a lot of sensitivity around her weight issue. We want to ensure the privacy of the patient is respected.

“She has reduced (weight), trimmed down and is looking much better. This will take time and there’s no magic cure. We are willing to walk all that distance with the family.”

It is expected the hospital will give Eman will an electric wheelchair to get around when she is ready to be discharged.

Eman had emergency treatment to help her condition

Eman has already reduced her weight

Dr Vayalil said: “Winning her confidence was an important challenge for us. It took us a while but now, half the battle is won. She is a committed lady who wants to lead a normal life.

“We want to fight the larger cause of obesity. And Eman is no less than Malala Yousafzai (the Pakistani activist for female education and Nobel prize winner). We want to use Eman as an ambassador in the fight against obesity.”

Eman is being primed to do talks in schools when she is fully recovered to encourage young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

And when she has lost a “considerable” amount of weight, Eman will undergo surgery on her joints, which has become eroded after being put under so much strain.

When she’s recovered Eman could travel round schools to encourage young people to have a normal life

Eman first had a gastric band fitted in Mumbai, but the hospital refused to continue to care for her following the operation.

Medics from Mumbai’s Saifee Hospital said she should go back home to her home in Alexandria, Egypt, to continue her new diet and rehabilitation at home, saying there was nothing more they could do for her – a move which infuriated her family.

Her anxious sister Shaima Selim feared her obese sister, who weighs in at almost half a tonne, would slip back into her old ways and be unable to continue the weight loss journey without medical support – so they started looking for experts around the world who would help.

Gastric doctors at the Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi’s largest private hospital, stepped forward and said they would oversee the rest of her care which is where she remains now.
