6 ways Chelsea's attack could line up with Alvaro Morata next season

    Alvaro Morata.

It's official: Alvaro Morata is a Chelsea player.

Joining from Real Madrid for an initial £58 million, which could rise to £70 million, the Spaniard has signed a lucrative five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

His arrival marks the end of Diego Costa's time at Chelsea, with the 28-year-old set for a return to Atletico Madrid three years after leaving them.

Morata isn't quite a finished product like Costa just yet, but he has the potential to be even better than his short-temptered countryman.

Strong, composed and fast for his size, the 24-year-old is a proven goalscorer despite playing second fiddle to Karim Benzema at Real last season.

Following confirmation of his move, Morata delivered a short but sweet statement about how excited he is to be playing for Chelsea.

"I am so happy to be here," he said. "It's an incredible emotion to be part of this big club. I am looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can and to win as many trophies as possible."

Antonio Conte has brought Morata in as his new first-choice striker, meaning Michy Batshuayi will once again have to settle for being No.2.

Be that as it may, Conte must be open to rotation to preserve his players' fitness, given they now have the Champions League to focus on.

The Italian has plenty of attacking options at his disposal, so here are six dangerous ways he could line up his attack - all of which featuring Morata - for the 2017/18 season.

    1. WITH HAZARD/PEDRO

    2. WITH HAZARD/WILLIAN

    3. FABREGAS NO.10 WITH HAZARD/PEDRO

    4. FABREGAS NO.10 WITH HAZARD/WILLIAN

    5. HAZARD NO.10 WITH PEDRO/WILLIAN

    6. HAZARD NO.10 WITH TWO UPFRONT

In a 3-4-3 formation, Conte usually opted for the trio of Morata, Eden Hazard and Pedro last season, with Willian occasionally starting on right wing.

If needs must, the Chelsea manager could also switch to 4-2-3-1, in which both Cesc Fabregas and Hazard can play in the No.10 role.

And who knows, perhaps there's scope for Morata and Batshuayi to start upfront together one day, though that remains the most unlikely out of the six options.
