    12 Nigerian Celebrities Who Have Been Duly Recognized By CNN

    Nigeria VIPs have made their stamp in their diverse Industries and are perceived and displayed in the media to fill in as motivation to other people who seek to point higher. 

    CNN's African Voices, a week after week appear on the worldwide system that highlights Africa's most captivating identities – individuals who are molding change in Africa, investigating their lives and interests, is one of these media stages whereupon some of these Nigerian big names have been exhibited.


    1. Omotola Jalade

    Although featured on CNN African Voices about 2 years ago, the Nollywood superstar who is also a UN ambassador, in an interview with Vladimir Duthiers opened up on the challenges she faced and experiences garnered starting out as a model, getting her first role, starting her reality TV show – Omotola: The Real Me, raising her children, and more.

    2. Tara Fela Durotoye

    Chief Executive Officer of House of Tara, Mrs. Tara Fela Durotoye, who is unarguably, one of the pioneers of the Make-up and beauty business in Nigeria as she is reputed for setting up the first make up studio and first make up school in Nigeria in the year 2004, is another Nigerian celebrity who has been featured on CNN’s African Voices.

    3. Olajumoke Adenowo

    Once described as the “face of architecture in Nigeria”, Olajumoke Adenowo is one of the few females in Nigeria recognised in the architecture/building sector of the country. Involved in the design and construction of over 70 buildings, she is responsible for breathing life into several institutional facilities, auditoriums, residences, estates and cutting edge corporate offices both within and outside the country.

    4. Waje

    Recently featured on the show, Nigerian female famous vocalist and UN ambassador Waje talked about several issues including the African Women project, her mission to help homeless kids in Nigeria through her Waje Safe house project partners with Child Life and her forthcoming album as well as what her fans should expect from it, while on the show.

    5. Funke Akindele

    Funke Akindele-Bello most recently joined other African stars on the CNN program featuring people who have impacted Africa in various ways. The popular Nollywood actress opens up on her world of scripts, cameras, and awards and how she successfully created her popular ‘Jenifa’ character

    6. Denrele Edun

    Denrele Edun was featured on a recent episode of CNN’s African Voices show. He discussed his life in general and how he became the eccentric personality people have come to love.

    7. D’banj

    Superstar Entertainer D’banj was one of the prominent Nigerians to be featured on CNN’s African Voices’ where he went into details of his philanthropic endeavours, and more.

    8. Mo Abudu
    Nigerian media mogul Mo Abudu was also once the featured guest on CNN African Voices. CNN refers to Mo Abudu as a successful woman driven by “perseverance, passion, and positivity” adding that the EbonyLife TV Chairwoman takes viewers “behind the scenes of her empire to see how she creates content that has audiences in Africa and abroad clamouring for more”.

    9. Asa

    Nigerian international singer and song-writer , Asa, was one of the earliest star guest on CNN African Voices.

    10. Rita Dominic

    Nollywood Superstar, Rita Dominic was featured on CNN’s African Voices. The Zamunda Queen as she is widely known as opened up to CNN about her acting career, her company The Audrey Silva Company, how she felt when she won her first African Movie Academy Awards and a whole lot of other things.

    11. Jane Michael Ekanem

    Celebrity stylist, budding designer and writer, Jane Micheal who is known for her works with celebrities including Bolanle Olukanni, Tuface, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and more was featured on CNN’s Africa Voices where she shared her inspiring story on her journey into a career path not so popular in Africa.

    12. Tiwa Savage

    Tiwa Savage has been making Nigeria proud with high profile appearances and a major performance at the Essence Magazine event in Los Angeles. CNN African Voices once interviewed the Nigerian music star and she gave them a look into her life before the bright lights and super stardom.
