Kwara United defender Saka Azeez died after the collapse in training on the morning of Friday, May 26.
Azeez, who joined Kwara United of Zamfara United, collapsed during training at the Kwara stadium complex and died despite several attempts to resuscitate him.
The defender has played only one match for Kwara United this season, a FA Cup State victory over ABS earlier this month.
His body has been deposited in the morgue and is expected to be buried very much in accordance with the Islamic rites.
According to several of his colleagues, the defender never showed signs of illness before the tragic incident.
An inconsolable Kwara United trainer John Obuh described Azeez as a good player and declined to comment further on the subject.
Kwara United has canceled training until Monday as a sign of respect for the dead player.
Nigerian clubs in the last 12 months have suffered premature deaths from their players.
In October 2016, defender Joseph Izu was shot down by Joint Task Force (JTF) men at Rivers State in the Okarki community in the Ahoada West area of Rivers State.
Three months later, Uzama Douglas of Gombe United, also a defender, was killed by an alleged cultist in Benin.
