- Televangelist Gilbert Deya has finally been extradited back to Kenya to face charges of child trafficking
- Deya returned back to the country on Friday morning, August 4 under guard
- He has been on the run for 10 years after he successfully filed countless petitions in the UK to stop his deportation to Kenya
After fighting for years not to be sent back to his mother land to face trial, controversial preacher Gilbert Deya has finally been extradited back to Kenya.
Deya was deported from the United Kingdom where he has been holed up to escape criminal charges in Kenya.
The millionaire televangelist is expected to face child trafficking charges similar to his wife who was jailed for three years in 2005 over the same.

Mary was charged with stealing a baby from Kenyatta National Hospital in September 2005 and for giving false information to a doctor that she had given birth to the child.
Deya arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 4.40 am on Friday August 4, aboard a Kenya Airways flight. He is set to go on trial for the miracle babies saga that saw hundreds of children reportedly stolen and trafficked outside the country.

The children were allegedly stolen from various hospitals including Pumwani Maternity Hospital in Nairobi.
Deya is said to have stolen five babies from Pumwani between May 1999 and 2004 and sold them to barren women purporting they were miracle babies.
He has escaped extradition thrice in 10 years and at one time, was jailed in the UK for presenting a fake High Court order from Kenya which he claimed had blocked his prosecution.

In 2011, he also presented counterfeit affidavits which he claimed were from prison warders who had confessed how they torture prisoners. His extradition comes after a court in the UK threw out a case he had filed to challenge his deportation.
Deya’s nephew Paul Deya was also found guilty by a London court of murdering his three-year-old son in 2005.
The preacher owns a church based in Peckham which is a district in South East London and is said to have 36,000 followers.
