    Two Men Arrestedc for Allegedly Belonging To Secret Cult

    Two men, Oluwafemi Jegun, 28, and Kareem Busari, 32, were on Friday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos charged with alleged membership of a secret cult.

    The duo, of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy, belonging to an unlawful society and breach of public peace.
    The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Romanus Unuigbe, told court that the accused and others still at large, committed the offences on May 9 at about 02: 30 p.m. at Ajileye Street, Bariga, Lagos.
    Unuigbe said that the accused persons and their accomplices did not only belong to an unlawful society but were constantly polluting Ajileye Street with Indian hemp smoking.
    He explained that the duo was apprehended after residents and business owners made reports at the station.
    The prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 41, 166 (a) and 411 of the Criminal Laws Cap Ch, C17, Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State Nigeria 2015
    The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
    The Chief Magistrate, Mr P. A. Ojo, granted them bail in the sum of N250, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
    Ojo said that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.
    He ordered that sureties must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and that their addresses should be verified by the police.
    The magistrate adjourned the case until June 28 for substantive trial.
