The European Commission banned Nigeria's flag carrier, Medview, from operating in European airspace for security reasons. Other airlines were also hit. A total of 181 airlines were banned from flying to Europe, while 174 airlines were excluded due to safety oversight by aviation authorities in their home countries.
However, all carriers in Mozambique and the Republic of Benin have been removed from the list of prohibited airlines. Medview was one of seven airlines banned due to security conditions with the airlines themselves. Alhaji Ishaq Na 'Allah told the New Telegraph by telephone that UK civil aviation asked the airline to fly its B767 and advised it to rent another plane.
He said they are working to resolve the problem, while the UK authorities are owed in Nigeria to carry out the security audit on the airline. However, he did not say when the airline would be back in service to London. The airline, which is one of the two flag companies of Nigeria, was "Listed by Introduction" on the NSE on 31 January 2017 and was the first airline to trade on the stock exchanges in The last 10 years.
